Sell USDT and receive EUR: the UAE to Eurozone corridor

Selling USDT for euros works like any OTC trade with a currency leg: you accept one all-in quote from a VARA-licensed desk, send the USDT, and the desk wires EUR by SWIFT to an IBAN in your own name. Settlement typically takes 2–5 business days, often faster on SWIFT gpi; spreads run 0.08–0.40% by size, as of September 2026.

How do you sell USDT and receive EUR from the UAE?

Selling USDT for EUR from the UAE takes four steps: open an approved account, accept a written all-in quote in euros, send the USDT, and receive a SWIFT wire to your own Eurozone IBAN. An approved account completes the trading leg in one dealing day; the bank transit adds the rest.

  1. STEP 1

Open the account before you need it

You register once: passport and proof of address for an individual, licence and ownership documents for a company. Approval takes one business day in most cases, and the document list sits in our onboarding section.

  2. STEP 2

    Request a quote in euros

You state the USDT amount; the desk returns one all-in EUR price that already includes the EUR/USD conversion. The quote is held for a defined window, so the rate you accept is the rate you get.

  3. STEP 3

Send USDT on the agreed network

TRC20 is the common, cheapest rail for USDT in the UAE; ERC20 works too. You send only after accepting the written quote, to the address in that quote.

  4. STEP 4

    Receive EUR by SWIFT

Once the USDT confirms, the desk releases a euro wire to your IBAN. The mechanics of that leg — correspondent banks, cut-offs, fees — are covered in our guide to a SWIFT transfer from the UAE.

SWIFT or SEPA: which rail delivers your euros?

From the UAE, euros reach a European account by SWIFT, because UAE banks sit outside the euro payment schemes. The payment travels through correspondent banks and settles in TARGET2, the Eurosystem's settlement system, before your bank credits it.

SEPA — the Single Euro Payments Area, 41 countries as of September 2026 — governs euro transfers between accounts inside the zone. Once your euros land, onward SEPA transfers within the zone take one business day, or seconds on SEPA Instant. A desk that holds its own EU account can pay out by SEPA directly, which skips the correspondent chain — ask which rail applies to your ticket before you trade.

Indicative ranges, as of September 2026 — not quotes.
RouteHow the money movesTime to EURCost beyond spread
SWIFT to your own IBAN Correspondent banks into TARGET2 2–5 business days, often faster on SWIFT gpi €0–€50 deductions on SHA
SEPA payout from the desk's EU account Intra-zone credit transfer Same or next business day Usually none
AED first, then remit yourself UAEFTS, then your bank's FX Same day locally, then your bank's timing A second conversion spread

Direct SWIFT to your own IBAN is the default; where a desk offers a SEPA payout, transit drops to about a day. Converting to AED first means paying for two conversions instead of one.

How long does a USDT-to-EUR settlement take?

A USDT-to-EUR settlement takes one dealing day for the trade itself plus up to 2–5 business days of SWIFT transit, as of September 2026 — SWIFT reports that almost all gpi payments are credited within 24 hours, but correspondent cut-offs and compliance checks can add days. The wire is released once your USDT confirms on-chain, which takes minutes on TRC20.

The calendar matters as much as the rail. Meridian deals Sunday to Thursday, 09:00–18:00 GST, while TARGET2 settles Monday to Friday and closes on euro-zone holidays — a trade closed late Thursday GST can wait out the European weekend. According to the ECB's published calendar, TARGET2 also closes on days that are ordinary working days in the UAE, so check both calendars before a month-end trade.

What bank details does a EUR payout need?

A EUR payout needs your IBAN, your bank's BIC, the account-holder name exactly as the bank holds it, and the bank's country. The name must match your desk account: licensed desks settle to your own name only, and a mismatch gets the wire returned.

IBAN length varies by country — 22 characters in Germany, 27 in France — so copy it character for character rather than retyping it; our IBAN glossary entry shows the structure. A clear purpose-of-payment line ("OTC trade settlement, invoice reference") helps the receiving bank's compliance team match the inflow to your documents.

What does it cost to sell USDT for EUR?

Selling USDT for EUR costs the desk's spread plus the EUR/USD conversion, both folded into the single quoted price. Unlike the dirham — pegged at 3.6725 to the dollar since 1997 — the euro floats, so the quote window is what fixes your rate.

Meridian OTC published pricing bands, as of September 2026.
Ticket size (USDT)Spread
100,0000.40%
500,0000.25%
2,000,0000.15%
10,000,0000.08%

The spread is the whole desk fee — the tiers are published on our pricing bands with a calculator that converts them into money at your size.

A worked example: selling 500,000 USDT at the 0.25% tier costs 1,250 USDT, leaving 498,750 USDT to convert. At the ECB reference rate of 1.1592 dollars per euro on 11 September 2026, that is about €430,250 before any correspondent deductions — which run €0–€50 on a SHA wire, so ask for the OUR fee option if the full amount must land.

What can delay or block a EUR payout?

Four things cause nearly every delayed euro payout, and all are avoidable:

The bottom line on the UAE to Eurozone corridor

Selling USDT for EUR from the UAE is a routine licensed trade: one all-in quote, one USDT transfer, one SWIFT wire to your own IBAN. Get the account approved and the bank details verified before the day you need the money, and the corridor stops being the slow part.

FAQ

Is there a minimum amount to sell USDT for EUR?

Most licensed OTC desks in Dubai start around 100,000 USDT, whatever the payout currency. Below that size a regulated exchange with a SEPA withdrawal is usually the cheaper route.

Can the desk pay euros to a third party or another person's account?

No. A licensed desk settles only to an account in your own name; a company sale pays the company's account. A desk offering third-party payouts is a red flag, not a favour.

Will my European bank question a large euro inflow from a crypto sale?

It may. Eurozone banks apply anti-money-laundering checks to large inflows, so keep the desk's written trade confirmation and your source-of-funds documents ready before the wire lands.

Is the EUR/USD rate fixed when I trade?

Yes, at the moment you accept the written quote. The all-in price holds for a defined window; after it expires the desk re-quotes at the current market rate.
